Graeme Milne is to become an independent member of the Alliance Group board
Milne has held a number of key roles in the rural sector, including the role of interim chief executive of Richmond Ltd.
He helped to develop and manage the operations of the New Zealand dairy industry in Russia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe in the 1980s and 1990s.
He was also interim chief executive Bonlac Ltd in Australia and more recently The Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC Ltd).
Milne, who holds a Bachelor of Technology (Biotech) degree with first-class honours, is currently director of a number of companies including Genesis and Farmers Mutual Group.
He takes up the position from April 1, replacing David Mackenzie, who retired from the Board last year.
Milne said he is looking forward to joining the Board and helping to ensure Alliance Group remained an industry leader.
“While it has been a challenging time for the red meat industry, there are encouraging signs for Alliance Group, particularly with China continuing to show strong growth and increasing interest from emerging markets such as Brazil.”
Owen Poole, chair of Alliance Group, welcomed the appointment. “Graeme brings significant experience to the Board and his appointment reflects our commitment to ensuring our farmer-shareholders benefit from the right mix of skills and expertise.”
