Congratulations to the newly annointed 2013 Glammies grand champion, Patrick Sheriff from Gisborne, who won the best of breed open calls with lamb processed by Silver Fern Farms Takapau.
The winners of the 2013 Beef + Lamb New Zealand (B+LNZ) Golden Lamb Awards, aka the ‘Glammies’, were were announced in Wanaka last Friday at the Upper Clutha A&P Show.
The Glammies give farmers a chance to showcase breed lines & demonstrate how their animal management talent culminates in great tasting lamb.
The prime producers were whittled down from 180 entries, with the top 20 finalists judged at Wanaka.
B+LNZ Ltd chief executive, Dr Scott Champion says the competition is a great showcase of what New Zealand farmers do best – produce tender and tasty lamb.
To add to the Grand Champion spot, other farmer winners are:
- Colin Lockhart from Lawrence with Romney lamb processed at Alliance Lorneville (Best of Breed – Traditional)
- William and Karen Oliver from Te Kuiti for their Romney/Lamb Supreme crossbreed processed at Silver Fern Farms Takapau
- Donald & Liz Polson from Wanganui for their Highlander/Primera lamb processed at Silver Fern Farms Waitotara (Best of Breed – Terminal Cross)
Retail and processor awards were taken out by Countdown and Silver Fern Farms Takapau.
