Diary note: Harvesting valuable red meat at NZIFST conference

This year’s New Zealand Institute of Food Science & Technology (NZIFST) conference will include a meat session looking at ‘The Harvesting of Valuable Red, Poultry and Fish Meats’.

The impressive line-up of speakers, organised by session organiser and chair Rob Archibald (Taranaki Bio-Extracts), will include three from overseas. Topics range from processing automation (Andrew Arnold, Scott Technology), desinewed meat production (Keith Cunningham, Newby Foods, UK) and optimising the value of residual meat (Guus Heijnen, Marel, the Netherlands) to the use of Beehive Separators (Julian Fairleigh, Fairleigh Enterprises) and modern technologies and equipment for MDM and three mm meat production (Roger America, Lima). Cunningham will also cover changes to UK and EU laws on harvested meat.

The 2014 NZIFST Challenges into Opportunities Conference will be held from 1-3rd July, Air Force Museum of New Zealand, Wigram, Christchurch, New Zealand. The NZIFST meat session takes place on 2 July 2014 (see programme).
