Congratulations to specialist meat and food processing equipment supplier Milmeq, which scooped the Excellence in Innovation category in this year’s New Zealand International Business Awards, last night.
The awards, run by New Zealand Trade & Enterprise, celebrate the passion, vision and new approaches that New Zealand businesses are taking to achieve international success.
The Excellence in Innovation Award honours businesses that are developing and commercialising innovation in international markets and incorporating intellectual property strategy, processes and monitoring, says the category sponsor, the IP legal specialist AJ Park.
Congratulating Milmeq, AJ Park’s chief executive Pete Boyle said: “They are a leading example of what it takes to build a substantial international business built on smart technologies and continuous innovation. Milmeq excels in the design, engineering and manufacture of industrial systems for primary food processing, materials handling and chilling and freezing operations globally. This award celebrates Milmeq’s world class approach to maintaining a clear competitive advantage in the markets in which it operates.”
He added: ” It is a privilege for AJ Park to support and work alongside so many outstanding New Zealand companies. We acknowledge and congratulate all the other finalists and winners and wish them all the very best for their continued success.”
NZTE chief executive Peter Chrisp says that this year’s winners demonstrate the lateral thinking that is becoming characteristic of New Zealand business, with each winner shaking up traditional markets by providing innovative, bespoke and cutting-edge solutions.
Queenstown-based experiential tourism company Magic Memories scooped up four awards, including the coveted Judges’ Supreme Award for International Business. Rakaia’s Synlait Milk and Taupo-based Miraka were also amongst the winners on the night, with the latter winning the inaugural ‘He kai kei aku ringa’ or ‘Māori Excellence in Export’ award.
