‘Outstanding contribution’ from Dr Neville Jopson

Congratulations to Dr Neville Jopson, managing director of Abacusbio, whose ‘outstanding contribution to animal production’, has won him this year’s McMeekan Memorial Award presented at the New Zealand Society of Animal Production last week.

Dr Jopson has been involved with the introduction of CT scanning in sheep and for investigation and effects of the Carwell gene. His other projects include investigating the implementation of DXA scanning for yield measurement in meat plants, as well as developing a case for a sheep progeny testing programme to improve genetic linkages among industry sheep breeders, which became the Beef + Lamb NZ central progeny test.
