Almost 200 restaurants nationwide have applied for this prestigious award which is now in its eighteenth year.
Beef + Lamb New Zealand Inc chief executive, Rod Slater, says the award has become a highly sought after accolade.
“This award has stood the test of time. The fact the industry is still so supportive of the programme shows the regard in which this achievement is held,” says Slater.
The award is assessed by critics who all have formal culinary training.
In order to receive the award, restaurants must score more than 70 percent on two separate visits by different anonymous assessors.
Restaurants who reach this high standard will be notified in early January when they will receive their coveted, gold-rimmed presentation plate.
These awards also form the basis for selecting the Beef and Lamb Ambassador Chefs for 2014.
These chefs will be chosen from some of the highest scoring restaurants and will work with Beef + Lamb New Zealand throughout 2014 in cooking demonstrations and events for the public.
Any restaurants interested in entering the assessment process can contact Lisa Moloney at Beef + Lamb New Zealand on 0800 733 466.
