Entries are open in the 2014 Beef + Lamb New Zealand Golden Lamb Awards, aka the Glammies, and a judging process that combines scientific and taste testing will once again find our country’s top lamb.

The competition, supported by Zoetis, will culminate with the Grand Final at the Upper Clutha A&P Show in Wanaka on 7 March.

B+LNZ chief executive, Dr Scott Champion, says the competition continues to draw a keen following from sheep farmers, passionate about the world’s best lamb that they produce.

“Each year this contest gets bigger and better and it’s a great way to profile farmers’ skill and expertise as well as reminding Kiwis just how special our lamb is,” says Dr Champion.

Farmers have until 6 December to enter the competition.

The first stage of the Glammies competition will see all entries put through testing at

Carne Technologies to find the top 16 lamb legs.

At the Grand Final taste test, a panel of judges will decide the 2014 Grand Champion.
