Everything you could possibly want to know about New Zealand venison will on hand in Dunedin this week when this year’s Deer Industry Proud Partnerships Conference kicks off tomorrow at the Dunedin Centre.
In a packed itinerary, the deer industry’s 41st annual ‘Proud Partnerships’ conference, held over 10 and 11 July, will cover progress made to date in the industry’s Passion2Profit Primary Growth Partnership and will cover global and domestic marketing, market access issues and on-farm matters. On 12 July, delegates will be out and about attending a field day, getting a research and environment update and visiting Duncan South Ltd’s venison slaughter and processing facility.
Two keynote sessions are looking at the North American market for venison (Rodd Willis, Dot Foods USA, Mark Mitchell Broadleaf and Glenn Tyrell Duncan NZ Ltd) and the programme introducing Cervena to summer menus in Europe (Ben Veldkamp Hanos and Gerard Hickey Firstlight Foods). NZ special agricultural envoy Mike Petersen will speak on the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the future for agricultural products, while other major themes at the conference are women in agriculture, the state of the deer industry, where now for OSPRI, an update on Advance Parties, farm strategies for profitability, the increased use of velvet in healthy foods and the Advance Parties initiative, amongst much more.
