Farmers invited to attend Alliance Group annual meeting

Murray Taggart
Alliance chairman, Murray Taggart, sees no pressing reason for a dramatic change in the coming year to this year’s strong performance for the co-operative in venison.

Alliance Group shareholders are being encouraged to attend the co-operative’s annual meeting in Te Anau on December 14.

Alliance Group chairman Murray Taggart and chief executive David Surveyor will both discuss the company’s performance at the meeting at the town’s Distinction Hotel.

Taggart says farmer shareholders will have by now received information on the annual meeting including notice of meeting, proxy form and attendance slip.

“We know it is a busy time of year for farmers, however the annual meeting is a good opportunity for farmer shareholders to ask questions about the co-operative and hear about the prospects for the year ahead.”

Directors Dawn Sangster and Russell Drummond were re-elected unopposed to the Alliance Board in October.

Last month, the co-operative reported an improved financial performance and a $11.4 million distribution to farmer shareholders. Alliance Group doubled its operating profit to $20.2 million for the year ending 30 September 2017. The net profit before tax and pool distributions was $28 million, which includes extraordinary items relating to a land sale at Makarewa, Southland.

The meeting, in The Turnbull Room at Distinction Hotel, 64 Lakefront Drive, Te Anau, begins at 10:30am.
