OSPRI chairman, Barry Harris has announced the appointment of Steve Stuart as chief executive of OSPRI New Zealand.
Stuart brings a wealth of industry experience to the position having had an extensive career spanning regulatory and compliance roles across a broad range of industries, including fisheries, biosecurity and most recently immigration, he says.
Stuart says he is excited about joining OSPRI and the opportunity to lead an organisation that plays an important role in the primary sector as the management agency for the TBfree and National Animal Identification and Tracing (NAIT) programmes.
‘I’m particularly excited about the potential to contribute to the future of New Zealand’s biosecurity and traceability frameworks and position OSPRI for the future.’
Harris says the Board would like to acknowledge the leadership provided by Dr Pim Borren since taking on the position of acting chief executive for the past six months.
Stuart will commence his appointment on 25 March and will be based in Wellington.
